Sir Walter Buffalo is a creeping grass that moves over the surface making it easy to edge and care for. It’s not as invasive as other varieties of grass such as Kikuyu or Couch. It also has a great drought tolerance and requires minimal maintenance to keep it looking at its best year round. During winter it may lose some colour, although this will improve with age.
Another great benefit of Sir Walter Buffalo is that it’s weed resistant and low-allergenic, making it perfect for kids of all ages. This grass variety is also more resistant to pests compared to other lawn types and is extremely versatile for use across any garden space.

When your new lawn has been installed, the first week or two will require consistent watering every few days to ensure the soil does not dry out. After this period, you should only need to water your Sir Walter Buffalo lawn once a week. In extreme conditions though your lawn may require extra watering. However, in the winter months it will rarely require irrigation.
Sir Walter needs to be top dressed with washed sand at a rate of half a cubic meter to every 100 square meters. Focus mainly on the joins and edges to stop it drying out. For the healthiest lawn fertilise at the start of each season.
Sir Walter loves both the sun and is shade tolerant, this makes it perfect for almost any garden across Melbourne.

Our Premium Eureka Kikuyu VG is a small to medium leaf (finer than regular Kikuyu), warm season grass with very high self-repairing properties that make it perfect for high traffic areas or dogs who love to dig.
Premium Eureka Kikuyu VG has a rich green colour and is a hardy, aggressive grass. The runners will make their way underground into garden beds and under paths if not kept under control. This grass type can be cut lower than most instant lawn varieties without causing damage and should be kept between 25-50mm.

Kikuyu Premium VG requires minimal maintenance to keep it looking vibrant and healthy. We generally recommend in the first 2 to 4 weeks to water regularly to help establish and develop its root system. Note, the soil under the lawn should be damp and not dry. After this period, it is fine to water once every 7 to 10 days.
As it is a creeping grass, Kikuyu is excellent for blocking and preventing the spread of weeds throughout your backyard.
Hand weeding is generally the best way to get rid of spot issues throughout your Kikuyu lawn. Because Kikuyu is not exempt from herbicides, you can include Winter Grass Killer as part of your lawn care routine - apply at the end of Winter/start of Spring for best results.

Kikuyu is a popular choice due to its hardwearing properties and ability to withstand some of the harshest Victorian winters. The best way to care for your lawn in winter is to have a consistent lawn care and maintenance routine, and keep a close eye on the lawn in the first 12 weeks in establishing a healthy root system. If the lawn is starting to look slightly discoloured do not be discouraged, as it will likely bounce back right away after the peak of winter has passed.

Due to its hardwearing properties and fine leaf blades, Tiftuf is extremely water efficient and highly durable. It’s also able to withstand high temperatures in summer, and freezing temperatures in winter making it a great choice when looking for a lawn that looks great all year round. When installing Tiftuf, minimal water is required to get established - perfect for water restricted suburbs - and saves on average 38% in water usage compared to other lawn varieties.
Tiftuf only needs approximately 4 hours of direct sunlight each day to thrive, and maintain its vibrant green appearance. Research has also shown that this lawn type can withstand extremely cold temperatures (down to -20° C), making it a great solution for Melbourne backyards, capable of withstanding early morning frost in Winter effectively.
All soil types work with Tiftuf, including clay, sand, alkaline or acidic. However, it performs at its best in well drained soils, like most drought tolerant grasses.

Rhizomatous Tall Fescue (RTF) has been developed as a beautiful instant lawn variety with all the features of the EasiCare with the added advantage of producing rhizomes. These rhizomes send shoots up through the lawn whilst establishing independent root systems for new plants, thus enabling self-repair for dry or hard worn patches. RTF will establish faster than the regular Tall Fescue, so you can enjoy it and water less much sooner.

Lawn Solutions Australia provides a 10 year warranty for instant turf from the date of installation. It is important to follow the laying and care instructions provided with your turf delivery. Due to the perishable nature of turf, it must be installed immediately upon delivery. If any issues arise, you must notify us in writing within 8 hours of delivery.
